I could use a little help deciphering all the information in this thread. I understand some of it but not all of it.
My facts: I have quite a number of HDCD-encoded flacs (of 16/44.1 wavs) on my NAS. I have HDCD.exe in the multi-thread folder. I am running XP Pro. I am running SS 6.5.4 (mainly due to SC's lack of Shorten coverage). I have read through convert.conf enough to understand what instructions it has in it. I don't think I have perl support yet on my PC. Which method should I use to decode the HDCD-encoded flacs so that non-HDCD-encoded flacs are not processed and softsqueeze is either unaffected or works like SS? I am assuming that it doesn't matter that I have one SB3 hooked up to a D/A and from the other I use the analog stream. Thanks for all this. P.S. I would like to upgrade to SC if I could get the SHN issue resolved.
