Here is what I did: 1) (optional) Install ActiveState perl. I had this installed already, but this allows me to run 'perl' directly from a windows command window. If you want to use some other perl install, you may need to add the path to your perl in the custom-convert.conf file below.
2) Download the two attachements to this post and remove the .txt extensions (needed to get around the forum's security restriction). NOTE: use this version of hdcdwrapper.pl, not the one I posted in-line previously. It has a couple of minor changes. 3) Put 'hdcdwrapper.pl' in any folder on your system. 4) Copy 'hdcd.exe' (obtained elsewhere) to a sub-directory just below where hdcdwrapper.pl is. This sub-directory should be called "hdcd". Ex: If hdcdwrapper.pl is in c:\, then you should have hdcd.exe at c:\hdcd\hdcd.exe 5) Copy the custom-convert.conf into the SlimServer server directory. This is the same directory that contains convert.conf. There is no need to modify convert.conf. Ex: C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server Note that I have defined four rules for handling flac files that could contain HDCD content. APE users might want to add their own rules, etc. 6) Edit custom-convert.conf and change the four paths that reference hdcdwrapper.pl. So change "perl c:\local\gdir\Audiotools\hdcd-convert\hdcdwrapper.pl" to match your system per step #3. 7) Restart SqueezeCenter and enjoy HDCD goodness. 8) When playing a cue/flac or flac that has hdcd encoding you should see an extra process in the task manager called hdcd. Otherwise, you should see an extra "perl" process. HANDY DEBUG TIP. To make sure things are working, you can deliberately introduce a typo into your custom-convert.conf that breaks the conversion. This way you know that SqueezeCenter is using the rule you intend for the file you are playing. Hope this helps.
