for years i have done it like this eg:

Back in Black (Remaster)

now i add the year to that and try to keep the normal year tag as the
orig release year:

Back in Black (Remaster 2002)
id3 year tag: 1980

sometimes i keep multiple versions, like for the doors and i certainly
will for the beatles. sometimes i don't. sometimes a remaster is just
compressed and i don't like it as much as the orig, (the 'highs/brights'
sound muted) and sometimes a better job is done on them than that.

sometimes one version is mono and another stereo, happens with motown a
lot eg. people obviously shouldn't always assume a remaster is always
better. the enh req for a tag SC knew meant to not store the file would
help.

sometimes i use other names, like:

Houses of the Holy (CSR)

where CSR stands for "Complete Studio Recordings"

or

Dark Side of the Moon (Shine On)

where 'shine on' is the name of the box set.

if an album is live, sometimes i put that in the album tag:

Get Yer Ya Ya's Out (Live)

but i'm not consistent on that.
