When you rip an CD, the year tag is normally filled with the releaseyear of the album. So if I ripp the 2009 Help! remastered stereo album of the Beatles, the year tag is filled with 2009. I also use the ORIGYEAR tag. I fill this tag manually or automaticly (MusicBrainz Picard with Lastfmplus plugin) with the original release year: 1965. If you will use the ORIGYEAR tag, you also need Custom Browse and Custom Scan. In the comment tag I add: stereo remastered.
