Sorry for re-opening this old thread but I just realised that SBS now (I am currently on 7.4.2 r29251) actually reads both TORY and TYER ID3v2.3 tags (and TDOR and TDRC ID3v2.4 tags), see the supported tags wiki page http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SlimServerSupportedTags. ORIGYEAR for flacs is still not supported.
The logic in SBS is, however, that the TORY tag takes precedence over the TYER tag if both are present in an mp3 file. This means that, if you use the TORY tag for "original track year" (i.e. the TORY tags vary between the files/tracks in one album) and the TYER tag for album release year (i.e. the TYER tags are the same for all tracks/files in one album) as suggested in this thread, in SBS the year vary with each track and the year for the whole album is set to the TORY tag for one of the tracks/files in that album (presumably the value of the TORY tag of the last file of the first disc in the album). I am afraid this was not what I wished for. Can anybody see any reason not to file an enhancement request according to the following lines? If for all tracks the TYER _or_ TORY value is the same for all tracks, set the album year in SBS to that value. If the TYER value for all tracks in an album is the same, set the album year in SBS to the TYER value (even if the TORY value for all tracks in that album also is the same but different from the TYER value). Another issue, which might be a bug, is that when browsing by year an album with a track from, say, 1913 does not show up under 1913 (unless the album itself is assigned that year by SBS). In the web UI the year 1913 is shown when browsing by year, but there is no content under that year (since I have only one song from that year - TORY - which is on an album released - TYER - 1998 but assigned the year 1928 by SBS). Could this really be the intended behaviour? -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wireless), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPod Touch, muso on remote computer running Win XP | 7.4.2 on Win XP ------------------------------------------------------------------------ vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=59253 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
