Sturmhardt, I am not sure if you apply the apparently essential spdifconvert.py on the Dolby or DTS files to convert to them to multichannel .wav containers. See the following Wiki for a full explanation - this is where I found the howto's for ripping multichannel audio form DVD's.
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Play_DVD_Tracks SBS is indeed just streaming the multichannel files to the digital output of the SB Receiver or SB Classic. Both tested ok for this with me.
