It _is_ an option. The three options at Settings > My Music > Composer, Band and Orchestra in Artists control two things (where it works correctly): 1. Whether or not contributors having only roles of composer, band or orchestra will appear in the artist list. 2. Whether or not albums on which the contributor has only a role of composer, band or orchestra will appear in the artist's album list.
