No - that is just incorrect. It's absolutely not a matter of opinion. If you send a 20-bit file to a 24-bit DAC or to an SB it WILL insert 4 zeroes at the end. Sorry. There's no resolution enhancement to be had by making up values for any of the lowest 4 bits... which as we've established from many earlier threads on this topic cannot actually be accurately resolved anyway, and even if they could, they cannot be heard.
