Ok it healed itself :) sometimes the database can get corrupt .

You can also do a complete "clear and rescan" from time to time not
just scan new and changed .

And sometimes one have to clear sbs cache folder and let it rebuild the
whole dB from scratch.

Re your MM tagging you should set it to v2 only for mp3 files but if
you retag files tagged by others make sure that the v1 tags are gone.
Your tagging probably works when are doing it from scratch and v1 and
v2 have the same content .

What can happen is that a file is tagged with several sorts of tags is
that different software used over the years don't update all tags
fields.
The v1 tags and v2 tags may not have the same content !
And v2 being never supports more things.

One error you can get is for example different Artist tags.

Just makesure MM does not write id3v to flac, it will probably also
work just fine if the content of all tags is the same.

FLAC can have vorbiscomments (flac) id3v1 v2 and APE tags at the same
time.

If all these are different it could truly confuse sbs.

But there is no need to retag files that are working ok, just a hint
where to look if an album behaves truly weird in sbs .

MM is often used by other squeezebox users so I assume it generally
behaves when writing tags :)

A further source of confusion can be artist sort tags, in sbs they do
not affect only the file where that tag is but it takes it as a hint to
sort all files by that artist in a particular way.

SBS 7.6 works with "moe." too ! thats good I now have an artist moe.
with a dot seems ok .

It always good to test these corner cases with sbs
