For ripping CDs to FLAC download the latest version of EAC from 'here'
(http://download.pcwelt.de/area_release/files/4A/60/4A603C8E579A96BA457DA34AB3D9FE57/eac-1.0beta1.exe)
and install it. During install it will ask you what kind of files you
want to create and you select "FLAC". It will automatically install
and configure FLAC for you. Don't worry about other EAC settings for
now; just accept the defaults.
Once installed, launch EAC and be sure it is pointing to the correct
version of FLAC by selecting from the main menu: "EAC > Compression
Options > External Compression". On the "Program, including path, used
for compression" line it should point to flac.exe within the EAC
folder.
Also check the "Additional command-line options" which should look like

Finally, don't do anything fancy with the path where you want your new
files created. Just put them in a folder on your desktop. Issues have
arisen for example when trying to have EAC write files to a network
share address such as a server or NAS.
Now try to rip a CD to FLAC. Put a CD in the drive and press the "CMP"
(CoMPressed) button on the left side of EAC. Reply back with your
results.
If you want to see what FLAC is doing and capture any error messages it
may generate, go to EAC main menu "EAC > EAC Options > Tools" and
uncheck "Do not open external compressor window".
If your interest is in converting WAV to FLAC then, as fillmore says
above, EAC is not the right solution. I use 'foobar2000'
(http://www.foobar2000.org/) to do that. If you want to use FLAC
Frontend which it sounds like you have already installed, then read
'this thread' (http://mikewren.com/flac) on how to make it work
properly with Windows 7.
