You need to differentiate between what you want to do in tracknumber and title tags and in what you want to do in filenames. For tracknumber fields you generally don't need a leading zero. I have yet to run into an application that requires it for the correct sorting of tracks, but I have heard others say they have. For the track's title tag, there should be no reason to include the tracknumber.
Filenames are more subjective and will depend a lot on how you organize your library. I organize my directories into artists, then albums for each artist, then tracks within the album folder. For myself, I have no need to include the artist or album names in the filename, as I consider it redundant. I name files using tracknumber padded with zeroes so that they sort correctly, then a space, then the track title. 01 So What.flac 02 Freddie Freeloader.flac 03 Blue In Green.flac 04 All Blues.flac 05 Flamenco Sketches.flac For compilation albums, since the artist name isn't included in the directory structure, I add the artist to the filename. 01 Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild.flac 02 Troggs - Wild Thing.flac 03 Steve Miller - The Joker.flac 04 Golden Earring - Twilight Zone.flac 05 Manfred Mann - Davy's On The Road Again.flac I use Mp3tag to tag and rename all files. What I do is always add a COMPILATION=1 tag to compilations, then I have a file renaming action that keys off this field when renaming the file. -- JJZolx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84859 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
