This is especially important if you use a directory syncing operation
to do backups. If your original file becomes corrupted then after the
backup you end up with no good copies of the file. And if your syncing
operation also removes any deleted files from the backup, it's a good
idea to get a file count and use that as a sanity check. If your
original/master library has fewer files than it did at your last
backup, then you (or something) may have deleted something
accidentally.
