but the larger context is that in the scenario i'm painting you are listening to a whole collection in random mix. so you'll have 10 songs at the same reference level, then two songs at who knows what level, then ten more songs at the reference level. given that, i would only want the two songs to not use track gain IF they infact had a probable relationship to each other. the main point of RG is to maintain consistent volume levels. so unless the artist themselves intended a difference, (as they do on sequential tacks on the same album), you wouldn't want to deviate from a reference level, esp in random mix. aubuti;631104 Wrote: > I think this one is not obvious either, but more a matter of personal > preference.
