good sources. I use mp3tag as my primary tagging program (yes, it does
FLAC too). A few things about the way I do things (and I have very
little classical):

1. every file has the usual ARTIST, ALBUM, TRACK NAME, Track #, Disc
Number (only if more than 1 disc), GENRE, YEAR and some of the fields
added by dbpa (codec used, etc.).
2. All tracks have track level and album level ReplayGain tags.
3. All Compilation albums I tag (i.e., use the field) COMPILATION = 1
(for non compilations, the tag doesn't exist)
4. I only use ALBUM ARTIST in certain circumstances (others have very
different, and valid approaches to this and may put Album Artist on
everything and not use compilation tag at all)
a. albums that have multiple track artists (e.g., one song on the
album might be two different artists). This is because if SbS notices
different track artists across an album it will think it is a
compilation
b. albums where the track artist is somewhat different and I want
everything to be consistent. So I might have Doug Sahm as album artist
even though various albums might be "Sir Douglas Quintet", "Doug Sahm &
Friends", "The Masked Men", etc.
c. compilation albums where I want the album to also show up under
an artist. Tends to be tribute albums, so I'd add "Roky Erickson" as
the Album Artist on the compilation album "Where the Pyramid Meets the
Sky", even though Roky is NOT on any of the tracks.
5. For FLAC files, I use a "folder.jpg" for album art in the album
subdirectory. For mp3/AAC only files I "embed" the art in the tags.

p.s. and in SbS, I tell it to label compilations as "Compilations"
instead of the default of "Various Artists".

This approach works for me with SbS, with using the same files in
foobar2000, and I also create mp3 files (with embedded artwork) from my
FLAC (with dbpa and no additional tag editing) and the files also show
up properly in itunes for use in my ipods, iphones, etc.
