This is what I do too. By dumb luck I started to rip my library like this, in the (mistaken) belief that it was the only way to make a copy of the CD that would allow me to make an identical physical copy should I damage or lose the original. Having started that way I've continued to do it, and if ever I'm asked to defend this approach, compared to track-by-track FLACs, the only real reason I can think of is the ease of handling tags. Loading my entire library of cue sheets into, say, Foobar, over a network drive, tweaking the tags in bulk, then saving all those changes back over the network, is MUCH quicker than doing the same with the equivalent FLAC files. This advantage obviously also applies to backups, which I think is what the OP was asking for. I find that I have to make sure that the FLAC image is free of all tags, to avoid possible conflicts in the LMS scanner.
