Hi,

LMS is set to display multidisc albums as on album and it set to
display the tracks as follows:

For two disc album it looks like
1.01 - track name
1.02 - track name
1.03 - track name
1.04 - track name
1.05 - track name
2.01 - track name
2.02 - track name
2.03 - track name
2.04 - track name
2.05 - track name
etc

I used dbpoweramp to rip my CD's to FLAC and the disc tag was always
set to 1 for single disc albums. This means single disc albums current
also show as

1.01 - track name
1.02 - track name
1.03 - track name
1.04 - track name
1.05 - track name

ie they look the same as for the first disc of a multidisc set. It
would be nice if single disc albums didn't show the disc number at all;
it's not necessary for most albums and when browsing its easy to see if
the track list is the start of a multidisck set or not.

I can do this using mp3tag to set the disc tag to blank just for single
disc albums. See end of post if you want to know how I plan to do this.

It works. For single disc albums LMS will then show:

01 - track name
02 - track name
03 - track name
04 - track name
05 - track name

and multidisc albums are unaffected.

Before I do this though I am worried that could be some unwanted
unforeseen side effects? Is the disc number tag really needed eg other
servers and players.

All comments are welcome. Thanks in advance Mark.

How to change the discnumber tag to blank just for single disc albums
using mp3tag Filter expressions.

I have my mutlidisc sets in sub folders

....\Disc 1\01 - Track name

....\Disc 2\01 - Track name

etc.

The following filter will only display the single disc albums in a scan
of my collection:

%discnumber% IS 1 AND NOT %_folderpath% HAS Disc 1

Select all in the list and set the discnumber to blank.

mp3tag is very powerful if you can get your head around the details :-)
