After a bit more experimenting, I still believe that the Album Artist processing of cue sheets is broken, but I've learned a few more details:
1) If there's a top level PERFORMER tag, it IS picked up by the scanner, but only as an artist, not as an album artist. If I click on that artist, LMS shows me all the tracks in that album, so it's behaving like an album artist, but not being included in the list of Album Artists. 2) LMS allows another way to specify an Album Artist in a cue sheet: in the top section, before any individual track information, I can include a REM ALBUMARTIST tag, and this demonstrates the issue even more explicitly. This tag is picked up in the same way that a top level performer is picked up, i.e. the artist is treated as an Artist, and is associated with all the tracks in the album, but despite being named REM ALBUMARTIST it does not show up as an Album Artist. 3) A REM ALBUMARTIST completely supercedes a top level PERFORMER tag - if both are present, in any order, the PERFORMER tag is ignored. 4) Additional subsequent top level PERFORMER and REM ALBUMARTIST tags are ignored, but 5) ";" can be used to include multiple artists in either REM ALBUMARTIST or PERFORMER (recognising that PERFORMER is still ignored if there's a REM ALBUMARTIST). All artists specified like this in a single tag are associated with all the tracks in the album, so they're all behaving like Album Artists even if they're not officially recognised as such. My tentative suggestions for some tweaks to the LMS logic would be: 1) Top level PERFORMER and REM ALBUMARTIST tags should be treated as Album Artists and appear in the list of Album Artists when the 'Use two separate lists..." option is active. This is more of a 'bug fix' than a tweak in my opinion. 2) Don't ignore the top level PERFORMER tag when there's a top level REM ALBUMARTIST tag. 3) Maybe don't ignore subsequent top level PERFORMER or REM ALBUMARTIST tags, so that the behaviour is more similar to the case with embedded tags, as 'described by @d6jg' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113834-Mastering-my-tags!&p=1007510&viewfull=1#post1007510). This might be non-standard, but then so is the already supported use of the semi-colon and the use of the REM ALBUMARTIST tag (I believe), so I doubt it would be an issue for LMS users. I'm not sure if Michael hasn't noticed this discussion, or whether he simply can't face engaging with yet another cue sheet-related issue (and who could blame him!). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113834 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
