I'll caveat this first by saying I'm only looking at the behaviour with separate cue sheets: Your 'UNLESS' is a condition that I haven't checked, but the bit before that is partially correct: If an album is flagged as a compilation, NONE of the artists, either album or track, will show up under Album Artists, but ALL of them will show up under All Artists.
