The sequence when the 'rivendell' service is started is: 1) Look for AudioScience HPI devices. If any are found, use them, in the order specified by their adapter IDs. 2) Try opening ALSA devices 'rd0' through 'rd7'. If a device open is successful, use it and go on to the next, otherwise quit looking. 3) Try joining an existing JACK graph. If successful, use it. So, switching to ALSA is largely a matter of killing JACK (distro-dependent) and configuring one or more 'rd<n>' ALSA devices. That can be done by running the RDAlsaConfig utility.
