Easiest way of getting rid of JACK is to just not use it. Riv will take ALSA on its own if JACK and Pulse haven't done so already. You simply need to undo a few steps from the guide you were following. First of all remove QJACKCTL from startup applications under System -> Preferences. That will stop JACK loading.
Next we need to kill off pulse. If you edit /etc/pulse/client.conf. Scroll down to "; autospawn = yes" and change it to "autospawn = no". Save and quit. Then type pulseaudio -k to kill off pulse. You should notice the volume icon near the clock changes to >-- and if you click on it you get a message saying "waiting for sound system to respond". Thats fine as we've killed pulse so the volume icon will never work again. After that in the guide we stopped riv from starting automatically so we need to fix that. To be honest you could probably just run "sudo make install" again to put the scripts back in place. If you want to manually fix it, copy the rivendell init script back into /etc/init.d. If you followed the guide properly it should be saved in ~/scripts/rivendell-init-backup so run sudo cp ~/scripts/rivendell-init-backup /etc/init.d/rivendell After that change directory to /etc/init.d and I guess you can run "sudo update-rc.d rivendell defaults" Regards, Wayne On Thu, 13 Oct 2011 18:50:00 +0100, Terry LeTourneau <[email protected]> wrote: > Thanks a bunch.
