Probably nothing to do with your problem, but a friend of mine gave me an mp3
cd that he compiled using musicmatch on windows. When I dragged and dropped the
songs into my dropbox they would not import. I opened them in Audacity and
saved as mp3, dropped them again into my dropbox and they worked fine, go
figure.

Robert - I do have the libmad development package installed, but thank you for
the idea.

Despite continued efforts, we're still not able to figure this one out. Does
anyone have an idea where to go from here, or need more information from me?

Thank you for your help,
Brooks

So it looks like you've got the library you need.  Good.

so (depending on your distro) you may have to modify
your default syslog setup to see them.
