Yes I'm using Debian Squeeze.
But shouldn't the "apt-get install rivendell" and the install-script
handle this correctly?

Hm, yes I'm aware of that. But I'm not using alsa directly.
I'm using rdcae->Jack->alsa

I could do that. But at the point where rivendell could be installed,
is should
just not matter if alsa is started or not.

At the moment I am clueless :)
Anyway, building and running rivendell from source works like a charm
:)
