Missed that the first time around. You are quite correct. If the environment includes anything Microsoft, then Samba becomes mandatory. Not because it's a *good* way, but because Microsoft refuses to be compatible with anything not Microsoft, and actively seeks to break any compatibility anyone else creates. That's also why Samba is constantly changing. To unbreak whatever Microsoft most recently broke. Almost any *nix can work within either environment, but Microsoft will only work in a Microsoft environment. Such is the way of a monopoly.
