The next is not a 100% Rivendell bug but appears in this environment.
We use a Dell server and Acer workstations for DJ, Data Entry and Soundprocessing (connected by Jack, all digital connections).
In the process of running a 6 week test before going live Jamin crashed after three days twice within 24 hours. We managed to track that down to the internal video card of the Acer and solved this crashing by minimizing Jamin and setting the workstation to an empty desktop. A similar problem appeared after 14 days nonstop in RDairplay. At the top of the hour we run the RML which for 6 seconds minimizes the volume and plays the beep over the current record. Suddenly the volume was not restored, only after 10 minutes it came back! Within the next hour when a new record was started sound quality was often totaly messed up or teh volume was set to zero! All servers and stations run on 2% to 16% CPU max. IO is mimimal. Once again we solved this by minimizing RDairplay and setting the screen to an empty desktop. Flawlessly the system continued.
Does anybody know wether this is solved by using an external video card? If so which one do you use? Do you use an extrenal video card an d do problems not appear on your side? For now in my best guess the problem is related to the continuous video processing of the VU meters in rdAirplay and Jamin.
