I don't know if it's still best practise these days, however I never mix sample rates or channels.

Since I used to use acient Antex cards in Windows I learnt early on a lot of cards couldn't segue their seperate wave devices if they weren't sample rate matched and had the same channels.

I realise this is probably not a problem with the likes of ALSA where it's hacked up in software to maintain a single sample rate to a cheapy sound card.

You're lucky you get it in 44,100 mono? I get files in 48k a lot too from various places.

With storage space so vast these days,

Subject: [RDD] rdimport converting mono file to stereo?

I have someone producing a newscast in mono and feeding it to rdimport. The file is mono, 16-bit linear .wav. It's 7 megabytes.

However, when the imported file is placed in /var/snd. it's 21 megabytes and appears to be stereo. Can rdimport be doing that? If so, is there a way to stop it?
