Good Point. I'm not trying to be mean, honestly I promise, but I have to share something that "the powers that be" wanted to do about 15 years ago at my group, which sounds somewhat similar to your situation, to which the end of the conversation went something like this:

"...The fastest way to get 1 Gig of data from here to there? FedEx."

Well, there was someone in South Africa a few years ago who tested the local ISP against a carrier pigeon carrying a flash drive (the pigeon won).

My situation is that I have a client with a radio station on an island that is ill-served by any telecommunications provider. The previous owner of the station fed it by C-band satellite link and divided the $2200 a month he paid for the space segment among several other stations getting the same programming.

Currently I'm running Rivendell at the transmitter site, and the daily logs are named Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so no matter what happens to the DSL, the station stays on the air, even if it has to run week-old programming.

In this business as in any other, we have to work with the hand we are dealt.
