I'm open to ideas! It's an inherently difficult problem. Virtually all of the UI code in Rivendell is hand-tuned. While Qt includes a system for automating the creation of the UI layout, it's not generally useful for a project like Rivendell because of the many custom widgets required that go well beyond desktop stylesheet standards. (e.g. -- The Start buttons in RDAirPlay, which not only change color but also contain length counters and fields that require multiple fonts. Qt's automated layout tools contain no support for such an animal).
