I thought I would share what I found out about ASI terminology.

A card has "outputs" which are the physical stereo/mono outputs on the card.
The card also has a maximum number of "streams" it can support. In the case of
the ASI6514,
it defaults to 4 output streams, but it can be switched to 12 output streams.

I spoke with AudioScience and asked what, if anything, is lost by switching
from 4 to 12.
They said that it changes how the card allocates resources and while it should
be possible
to play 12 simultaneous waveforms, it won't be able to handle 12 MP3s.

So, in my case, I believe what is happening is I'm running out of streams due
to the following:

RDAirPlay: Segway out of song (Stream 0)
RDAirPlay: Bumper (Stream 1)
RDAirPlay: Start next song (Stream 2)

RDLogEdit: Play top line of Voice Track (Stream 3)
RDLogEdit: Play Voice Track (Stream 4)
RDLogEdit: Play bottom line of Voice Track (Stream 5)

If RDLogEdit has allocated 3 streams when RDAirPlay needs more than 1,
RDAirPlay starts
blowing through the log with errors until RDLogEdit frees up a stream it needs.

I am going to try changing my HPI config from 4 to 12 streams using RDHpiInfo
and see if that
corrects the problem.

I think RDAirPlay shouldn't blow through the log if it can't allocate a stream.
It might be better
for it to wait until a stream becomes available. You're going to have dead air
regardless, but if it
were to wait, your log wouldn't be hours out of whack.
