No. There is not, nor has there ever been a requirement to run RDAdmin as ‘root’. What *may* need root permissions (it depends upon how your distro has set things up, actually) is caed(8). That is the component that does the audio ‘discovery’ that populates those DB fields. It is also the piece that actually talks to jackd(1). So, it’s caed(8) and jackd(1) that both need to be running as the same user. On stock CentOS setups, that common user is ‘root’. In fact, those settings will evaporate the next time the rivendell service is restarted, as they are probed and rewritten each time caed(8) starts.
