I (and I suspect others would) encourage you to follow the instructions at http://static.paravelsystems.com/rivendell-install/rivendell-install-rhel7.html to get the current version of Rivendell. This version is a) current, b) more stable, c) better documented. Those instructions include getting and installing the minimal CentOS (version 7) distribution of Linux. The version of Rivendell you'll end up with includes the awesome "Rivendell Administrator's Guide" which has within answers to many of the most common questions. There is also a new wiki for Rivendell at http://wiki.rivendellaudio.org/index.php/Main_Page that may be of more help than the previous (and increasingly outdated) wiki hosted by the Tryphon folks.
