Forgive my ignorance, but to me it feels that it is possible to create
a "jini-2.x-compat.jar" which bridges the old classes to the new ones.
If that is provided, the timing is less critical and IMHO should be in
a ver 2.2.

Looking at the issues solved and issues remaining in AR2, I think
RIVER-261 should actually wait. And instead, we make a final push to
fix the last scheduled issues. Can someone with more insight also go
through the unscheduled issues and see if anything potentially belongs
to AR2?
