I don't have many details I can recall. Sometime (in 2011?) child
processes started to segfault when Rivet was build for Tcl 8.6.
I didn't investigate and it was apparently fixed in one of the
subsequent beta releases.
I remember I mentioned the problem on the list and you confirmed some
important issue had been fixed with Tcl 8.6. I don't think is matter
for concern now.
