I apologize, I understand now your point. My method assumed that the
shell that comes with git (which brings many useful popular Unix
commands) is installed. Thank you George for fixing it

I assumed that you have installed mingw, and somehow its unix commands
were in your PATH. :-) I didn't guess git did it (yes, it also installs
mingw along with git...)
