RL-Users,

I am having an issue booting build 40. When booting, the process stops at
"Power Management" in the "Enter run-level 5:" section.

Cntl-Alt-F12 gives me a message screen. Here I see a couple shell errors
related to sending mail in respect to errors to root.

The last line says "Loading ACPI kernel interpreter:[blinking-cursor]"

If I hit Cntl-C here the system jumps to X and the login.

I can login as root but not any of my users. I think this is a different
issue than above.

I have disabled power management in my bios. This problem appears whether
acpi is enabled or not in my bios.

The intaller, Lizard, is as you know used with Caldera's products (and from
Caldera I believe) which I have loaded successfully. In fact this install
was placed on top of an eDestop install. During the install I only seen a
check mark on my swap partition when the format section was displayed.

Q: How can I turn off ACPI to complete a normal boot?

Q: Is my user (non-root) login possibly affect by the system not booting
completely?

Q: Is there a quick way to remove Grub from my Master Boot Record? I tried
DOS fdisk /mbr but no dice.

Once logged in I am really impressed with the Desktop and look and feel. I
have been fooling around with Linux since Yggdrasil Fal 95. Wow what a
difference 6 years has made! I am looking forward to testing more applications!

Thanks for any direction.

- Al
