Speaking of laptops, is there a recommended/approved
hardware list?

RL is similar to Caldera, right? Do they have a
recommended hardware list?

The reason I ask is that I'm going to buy a new laptop
and wanted to make sure it would work.

I've heard Toshiba's are good. I've also heard that
IBM's are notorious for Winmodem problems?

As I mentioned to the list, I've attempted to install
RL on a couple of Dell laptops with mostly success.

One thing I was looking forward to in RL is that you
wouldn't have to recompile the kernel three or four
times to "get it right".

What I liked about the 7.x SuSE install is that when
it was done, everything worked. Sound, video, etc.

But, it was too bloated and I didn't like the way it
handled configuration changes and the like.

RL has everything I need, minus a couple of laptop
specific programs. It's clean, neat, and simple and
it doesn't fill up half my hard drive. Thought I would
end it on a positive note (-:

I'm really eager to play with the Remote Control(?) package.

My Father-In-Law is needing a laptop for his job and
I was really thinking about putting RL on it (1) for the
the simplicity and now (2) for the remote admin.

later.
