Hello, I can't speak for rl-linux...

There's no list of recommended hardware, only a list of certified hardware (http://wdb1.caldera.com/chwp/owa/hch_search_form). You will find that there are three Toshiba notebooks certified. > I've heard Toshiba's are good. I've also heard that > IBM's are notorious for Winmodem problems? "mostly success" should be the result for OpneLinux as well. > One thing I was looking forward to in RL is that you > wouldn't have to recompile the kernel three or four > times to "get it right". Don't have to do that with OpenLinux either. > What I liked about the 7.x SuSE install is that when > it was done, everything worked. Sound, video, etc. So is the case with OpenLinux and, I believe, rl-linux. I think the best approach is via your dealer. You know what you want. You go tell it the dealer and if he wants to do business with you he will try to meet your needs. I could think of a kind of agreement which says that if you're not able to install rl-linux on it, you are allowed to return it within some days, or exchange it for another one.
