Maybe it's just me but every VPS I've looked at has hardly been worth the cost. They offer less total bandwidth availability, disk space, and RAM compared to the dedicated server providers. I use a couple of servers through managed.com. Right now most of thier better deals are sold out, but they usually have more available quickly. The customer service isn't the greatest, but if you can manage your own box then I really believe a dedicated server is the way to go.
