I haven't really attempted to use my phone for anything but a cell phone,
but I recently switched to Verizon from AT&T because AT&T's coverage 
was really bad for me... it was bad for me where I used to live in 
california.. and when I moved out here to UNR it was horrible as well.
Haven't had any problems with Verizon so far.  I don't have ssh access 
from my phone though..  But I'd recommend staying away from AT&T&Co.
