I'd have to take dibs on the defibrillator right after you. I've had
exactly *two* clients in the past 10 years specifically request OpenBSD,
although I've managed to convince a few others that it was the right
choice for certain tasks.

I still think *BSD integrates core utilities better than Linux due to
the development model, and that many of the commercial Linux distros
over-tweak some things at the cost of compatibility (e.g. good luck
getting OPIE to work on Red Hat).

Overall, though, I think Linux is the clear winner when it comes to
variety and bleeding-edge stuff. For example, whether or not one agrees
that softupdates >= journaling, to the best of my knowledge none of the
BSDs offer the same wealth of filesystem choices as Linux.

Anyway, this wasn't meant to be an anti-BSD flame; I use it here on
several bastion hosts. I just think more people would use *BSD if the
BSD distros made a more compelling case for what sets them apart from
the other BSDs, and what their real niches are.
