(note - I have already done a bunch of looking in the VMWare knowledge base)

I have win2k running as a guest in VMWare on Suse 9.1 system

To install Adobe Acrobat in the guest os I needed to install a service pack
and decided to go whole hog with SP4.

(I have NOT made any changes to networking in either VMWARE or windoze.)

Now the guest os hangs and locks up keyboard and mouse during boot when it gets
to network configuration, though I can do a hard system shutdown using the
power button on the box.

If I run windoze in safe mode with networking - it boots okay (though in a very
tiny window) and I can access the network. (obviously something is popping up
causing some kind of conflict during a "normal" boot sequence - but what?)

What I have not done yet is re-install VMWare tools, is that a requirement
maybe?

If not....
Anyone know if there is some kind of conflict between SP4, VMWare and Linux?
