What do you mean by that? One of their staff comes in and performs the upgrade without a hitch including all unsupported software? Or that you are privileged with access to their up2date repositories? > What is it about CentOS that makes you *shudder*? Not trying to pick a > fight, but I've been happily using it for over a year. I'm not sure exactly. My old boss, rip, was one of the CentOS developers. I mean as you know I have a distaste for RH which I acquired working at Terra Soft Solutions trying to port RH to PowerPC for low wages. It's no fun!!! Trust me. I've been a developer on 3 RPM based distros now and I keep asking myself how I get talked into it. As far as Debian security updates I haven't every noticed a discrepancy. It must be a tradeoff I assume. I've had the blessed fortune of being taken under the wing of some of the worlds best security researchers for years and years now. So I usually hear of new methods long before they come to the vendors. I also am rather transparent... I don't think I'd like to have my data destroyed but I'm not really trying to keep anyone from getting it by other means than compromising my system. Anyways I don't really feel like discussing this issue after looking at the thread that's formed. If I can remember any honest criticism about CentOS I might chime in. I haven't touched it since 2004. peace, core -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFDSiczGAuLrxOyeJMRAj9CAKD95ZOMkYCAwbGSoOION/4J/frFIwCgiXNj dWNhUfdYRnxV1MwsjALcBS4= =dKBf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ RLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.rlug.org/mailman/listinfo/rlug
