The second paragraph under Abstact lists the reason for the change.  The
truth is that based on my knowledge of the Roller internals I felt this
change was a necessary change technically.

there is no need to do that.  the proposal is old and is only meant as a
description of work to be done.  now that the work is complete if would
be tiresome to keep the proposals up to date.

I know exactly what you are talking about, especially because it was my
proposal and I completed the work.  The ability to change your default
template was removed on purpose.

pretty unlikely, but you can try if you like.  like i said, there were
technical reasons for making this change which affected the caching
system, the way urls were handled, the theme system, etc.  i'm sorry
that it has caused you a little extra work.
