Choice of which Linux distribution is the same as the choice of which car you want to drive. Some people want a shining car with spoilers and take a Linux distribution which are similair. Some people want a car which does only consist of a steering-wheel, an engine and four tires and they add the rest themselves, they take a different Linux distribution. Depending on what you want you either take a full-blown-graphical- blaat-blaat distribution or one which is command-line oriented and you have to add the rest yourself. But the only way to find out what kind of person you are is to experiment, to try things out. There is nothing we can tell you to use because we don't know you.
