Everyones got their own nitch in the editor market....
I like emacs, I hate vim (keep reading, you'll find out why), Textpad looks
koo, but I like Crimson Editor (http://www.crimsoneditor.com) only
cause it's simple and free (Yeah, crimson is only in Windows,
so shoot me ;) )..
But when I'm in a unix environment, no matter what the flavour of
the week is, I can't say I like any editor better than pico....
Why? It's simple, easy, and a 2 year old could pick it up! I program,
I dont have time to memorize 100+ odd commands, everything is there
at my finger tips.... "Oh, I want search for something" *looks down at the last
2
lines of his editor* "Oh look, there's the command!"
So yeah, if you wanna add my opinion to this thread, check out:
Win32:
Crimson Editor - http://www.crimsoneditor.com - Freeware
Unix-Based:
pico - <MOST unix/Linux/FreeBSD servers have it, if not, most ftp's do>
Oh yeah, one more reason I like pico, I use pine for my e-mail, so it keeps
things simple... ;)
