I implemented player owned shops a while ago, i did it a little differently though. Basically, i had the mob in it's room and a shop deed reset to the mob. If a player wanted to buy the shop, they bought the deed. When they wanted to sell stuff, they would give items to the mob (the mob would only take items from the owner). The object would be added to the resets and removed when someone bought the item. The only bad thing with my system is that you had to set a markup on the item, you couldn't set the price.
