Hi John,

as far as i've now read other messages to this thread, i would like to 
underline your words. From my point of view (a database designer's view) there 
is a missing layer betwenn the object model and the schema. Whenever i do 
normalization works or (more worse) denormalization works, i have (a) to handle 
hundreds of "columns" within the schema or (b) to modify the object model what 
is not amusing for the rest of the crew.

I think that designing enterprise size databases does not mean supporting 
enterprise size dbms. It means supporting the requirements of database design 
in an environment with purely relational and very big databases, which can not 
be generated directly from out the object model.
