To 1.
I reckon, your emphasis is on the process and not on the solution, so taking
an existing case may not be disadvantageous at all. Furthermore, if you take
a new case you might end up discussing actual system requirements with your
students in stead of discussing the process itself. This is of course
relevant for the new system, but not for your tutorial.

Subject: (ROSE) Giving a workshop
Hi all,
I am a graduation student and my graduation project is the integration of
UML (and Rational Rose) within the company.
We're planning to do a workshop, but we're still having discussions about
the way this workshop should be given. I would like to know your opinion.
I have to make 2 main decisions:
1. Doing an existing case or doing a new case
2. Per projectteam, or for every projectteam 1 person.
1. Doing an existing case or doing a new case.
---------------------------------------------
For the workshop we want to model and implement a whole case (top to
bottom).
For that reason we need a case. There are 2 ways of doing this case.
- Taking an existing case:
Advantages:
* Takes less startup time
* You have models to compare
Disadvantages
* You might model towards THE solution too much, there are several
solutions to a problem..and each of them could be the right one.. not only
the solution in the existing model.
- Taking a new case:
Advantages:
* You could choose a case that can be used within the comapany
* The outcomming is uncertain (you won't model towards THE solution
too much)
* Better understandable for the participants
Disadvantages:
* Less controllable
* You don't have models to compare
What would you do?
2. Per projectteam, or for every projectteam 1 person
----------------------------------------------------
Within our company, we develop several projects. Every project has a
projectteam.
The second decision is if we should introduce rose to a single(or a few)
person from each project team or should we do the workshop for the whole
projectteam?
Now what is your opinion on this?
I have asked you guys, because I think someone out there will have had the
same situation... Am I right?
Greetings,
Arno Leenders
