The point I was trying to make is that most users, who "have chosen for
UML", really need a pragmatic approach to use UML. So, they expect their
"UML tool" to do more than to support the notation. They also expect their
"UML book" and their "UML consultant" to go beyond the UML notation.
I fully agree with you that you should not expect anything more from a "UML
tool" than to support the notation.
