Thanks very much, Jeff. I'll chase these possibilities.

Lucas Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: (ROSE) Problems getting a floating license Hello, This may be a long shot, but I have had a similar problem that was caused by the ip address being changed but one of the dns servers. This problem was intermittent. Two of the DNS servers had the correct IP address for the domain name, but there was a another dns server that somehow had gotten a bad IP address for the server and was not in sync with the other servers. The specific scenario I was dealing with was much different than what you are describing below, but the problem I had would cause the same indication that you are getting. I was able to stumble across this because certain location I did a ping tracert from would always come back with the correct IP address, but other locations that were on a different DNS server would sometimes come back with an incorrect ip address. Long shot... GOOD LUCK PS... You might try calling GLobetrotter software who is the developer of flexlm. I have worked with them in the past when I worked for Compuware. I implemented the flexlm license software in a number of products a few years back. Anyway..... they might be able to provide additional assistance. They also have additional tools you can download from their website that you might find more useful. Jeff Miller 850-921-8135 "Daryl J. Yes, we've been pursuing this for two months now. >It may be a best resource to open a case with tech support. >If you email this string to [EMAIL PROTECTED] a case will >be created and an engineer will be in touch with you. We've done that, and they've not been able to figure it out. That's why I messaged this newsgroup--hoping there may be someone else out there who has faced this before. >What we typically see in these unpredictable scenarios is >that there is some kind of environment connectivity issue >presenting itself periodically. It's truly appreciated! But so far, no solution. -Daryl -----Original Message----- From: Denman, Wayne [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2001 12:35 AM To: Daryl J. If you go to the server and run lmtools from the run line, and then check the status of the license when you cannot get a license, it will tell you if there are any licenses available to be issued. Also are you pinging the server with the ip address or the friendly name, could be a dns issue. these types of issues can get lengthy in tracking down. It may be a best resource to open a case with tech support. If you email this string to [EMAIL PROTECTED] a case will be created and an engineer will be in touch with you. What we typically see in these unpredictable scenarios is that there is some kind of environment connectivity issue presenting it self periodically. If you are not the sys admin. Id might also be a good resource to get them working on this also. Best Regards Wayne E. Denman Rose Technical Support Engineer Rational Software Corp.
