Here is some info on flexlm that help you or not, sorry for the verbose

Chapter 7
License Administration Tools
FLEXlm provides utilities for the license administrator to help manage
the licensing activities on the network. These utilities are:
lmcksum (v2.4+) -- Prints license checksums.
lmdiag (v4.0+) -- Diagnoses license checkout problems.
lmdown -- Gracefully shuts down all license daemons (both lmgrd
and all vendor daemons) on the license server node (or on all
three nodes in the case of three-server redundant servers).
lmhostid -- Reports the hostid of a system.
lminstall -- Converts license files between different formats.
lmnewlog -- Moves existing report log information to a new file
name and starts a new report log file with existing file name.
lmremove --
lmreread -- Causes the license daemon to reread the license file
and start any new vendor daemons.
lmstat --
lmswitchr -- Switches the report log to a new file name.
lmver -- Reports the FLEXlm version of a library or binary file.
This chapter also contains command-line syntax for lmgrd.

Thanks for your suggestions, Wayne.

No. Already checked that.

Yes. All licenses are available.

Have done both. No problems pinging either way.

Yes, we've been pursuing this for two months now.

We've done that, and they've not been able to figure it out. That's why I
messaged this newsgroup--hoping there may be someone else out there who has
faced this before.

We've both been on it. So far nothing anyone has suggested has worked.
Many thanks for your help! It's truly appreciated! But so far, no solution.

Is it possible that you have already checked out the 4 available licenses?
If you go to the server and run lmtools from the run line, and then check
the status of the license when you cannot get a license, it will tell you
if
there are any licenses available to be issued. Also are you pinging the
server with the ip address or the friendly name, could be a dns issue.
these
types of issues can get lengthy in tracking down. It may be a best resource
to open a case with tech support. If you email this string to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] a case will be created and an engineer will be in
touch
with you. What we typically see in these unpredictable scenarios is that
there is some kind of environment connectivity issue presenting it self
periodically. If you are not the sys admin. Id might also be a good
resource
to get them working on this also.

Probably depends on your environment. Check that everyone has the flex
license manager in their path.
